Irish Province

The Augustinians were originally gathered from diverse groups of hermits in Italy in 1256.  They spread rapidly throughout Europe and arrived to Ireland in 1280.  Their first foundation in Ireland was in what is now known as Temple Bar and it seems that the original priory was located on the site of Cecilia House on Crow Street.

The well from the original foundation was located during the recent renovations of the Temple Bar area and was restored.  It is located just off Temple Bar on Eustace Street.
