Child Protection Policy

A Safeguarding Policy Towards Children and Vulnerable Adults is an essential element of any group or organisation which has interaction with such persons. Following the very sensible, down-to-earth and simply applied guidelines assures young people and their parents that the welfare and safety of young people is paramount, and also gives leaders and youth workers protection and support in order to carry out their work.

Youth workers and leaders, including Augustinian Priests and Brothers, are provided with accredited training and their backgrounds are subjected to scrutiny, including Garda vetting.
Any person who is aware of a case of any kind of abuse is encouraged to bring that fact to the attention of the appropriate authorities. Sometimes a person may have difficulty approaching the Gardai or Social Workers, especially if the complaint concerns their own self, so we encourage such a person to get help. Some useful numbers are provided here.
